When the current owners bought this former country house hotel in Devon, the kitchen was housed in a rather dismal extension. So they took the bull by the horns, built a large new extension with a lofty skylight which flooded the new room with wonderful natural light and gave us a blank piece of paper to design a new bespoke kitchen for them.
The focus of the room is the signature Robinson and Cornish overmantel, which surrounds the large black Aga. The fitted cabinetry at the working end of the room includes a capacious, well fitted larder and a glass cabinet with arched glass doors.
The large island unit provides extra working and storage space. We designed an iroko butchers block for the tough chopping jobs and at the dining end, we included one of our ‘office corners’ to keep household paperwork tidy.
If you were to buy this kitchen today, it would cost between £60,000 and £70,000 including appliances but excluding building, plumbing and electrical work.
