A large Georgian house in Hertfordshire

This huge room with its magnificent leaded window gave us ample opportunity to include a host of original features.

The batterie de cuisine above the large central island and the light above the main table were specially made to our own design.

The Aga framed by a simple overmantel was moved forward to make room for a raised granite shelf behind.

The large freestanding cupboard with its raised and fielded door panels was based on a medieval style and is an example of how an individual piece of furniture can be created to break up the fitted kitchen look.

Luxurious details include polished ash cupboard interiors, teak worktops, random limestone slabs on the floor and cast iron radiators under the window seat.

There's even a fully fitted separate utility room as large as many kitchens.

If you were to buy this kitchen today, it would cost between £145,000 and £165,000 including appliances but excluding building, plumbing and electrical work.
