To create the new kitchen in this stunning Nash villa in London, permission had to be sought from the Crown Estates to change the overmantel and move doorways, to make our design work better. To comply with their strict regulations, we even had to install cast iron plumbing to the island unit.
We included contemporary influences in a classic bespoke kitchen, reflecting the owner’s Scandinavian heritage. A clever lighting scheme helped to eliminate the low-ceilinged effect, as the kitchen is located in the basement without the lofty ceilings found on the main floors of this listed house.
Angled bench seating was designed to complement a round table in the window, overlooking the garden and we also designed an imposing storage cupboard, with Gothic arched glass windows at the dining end of the room and a separate utility room.
If you were to buy this kitchen today, it would cost between £90,000 and £100,000 including appliances but excluding building, plumbing and electrical work.
