The cathedral-like proportions of this room and the light flooding in through the skylights demanded a kitchen that made a dramatic statement.
We designed a signature Robinson and Cornish overmantel of imposing dimensions and cream painted fitted cabinetry to complement the black Aga and slate floor.
Though in a sympathetic extension, our aim was to create a kitchen that would be in keeping with the original Edwardian villa. Therefore, we combined fitted furniture with free-standing items. These included a cupboard with double doors to take a huge Liebherr integrated fridge freezer.
The ample island unit has an integrated Bosch microwave and an overhang at each end, so the owner can perch on a stool and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Five distinct areas were included - for food storage, food preparation, cooking, washing up and informal family dining.
If you were buying this kitchen today it would cost between £45,000 and £55,000 including appliances but excluding building, plumbing and electrical work.
