The kitchen in this beautifully proportioned town house was quite restrictive. There was a fireplace to one side, the sink needed to go opposite and there were two big windows overlooking the garden.
It really gave us only three walls to work with.
So we copied the fire surround from the dining room next door to create a link between the two rooms, added interesting details like the latticed and panelled doors and then painted everything in a Georgian starchy blue that complements the old mellow pine boards.
As you can see the effect is light, airy and deceptively spacious.
If you were to buy this kitchen today, it would cost between £55,000 and £65,000 including appliances but excluding building, plumbing and electrical work.
